Section 3: Management of Government Property

Written procedures for the management of government property are included in this manual. The manual is a collaborative effort of the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs, Grant and Contract Accounting, Procurement and Property Control to establish and maintain a property control system for the control, use, maintenance, repair, protection and preservation of government property in the custody of The University of Mississippi and its subcontractors. The manual addresses the 15 functional areas of government property administration as prescribed by DoD 4161.2-M, the DoD Manual for the Performance of Contract Property Administration.

The University Federal Property Administrator is the primary institutional contact for matters relating to government property management. The UFPA works closely with the PIs/Departmental Administrators, Grant and Contract Accounting, the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs, Procurement and Property Control to facilitate effective property management at the University.
