Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC)

Research involving pathogens, DNA, and/or human blood, other bodily fluids, or tissue requires approval of the Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC), an institution-wide committee. Excluded from the IBC requirement are: saliva, urine, and simple blood collection/sampling/typing using lancet drawn samples of less than 1/2 ml. The researcher must submit an IBC Memorandum of Understanding and Agreement (download link below) and protocol to the Chair of the IBC(ibc@olemiss.edu), for review and approval prior to conducting the research.
