Program:  NIH and NSF invite applications to establish International Cooperative Biodiversity Groups (ICBG) comprised of international, public-private, interdisciplinary research teams for exploration and discovery of novel compounds and extracts from nature with potential for development as therapeutic agents for multiple disease targets, while building research capacity in partnering low and middle income countries, and ensuring sustainable use of resources and equitable partnership frameworks.

NSF EPSCoR Research Infrastructure Improvement Track-3: Building Diverse Communities

Program: Aims to enable the participation of underrepresented groups and members of organizations serving these groups in emerging fields of science and technology. Focuses on innovative, transformative initiatives in recruiting, training, mentoring, and retaining diverse populations for full participation in the nation's research and education enterprise. The research agenda of these projects should advance cross-cultural team science.

Initiatives may focus on, but are not limited to, one or more of the following:

Howard Hughes Medical Institute 2014: Sustaining Excellence

Program: The Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) plays a powerful role in advancing science education in the United States. According to the HHMI, the science education program supports initiatives with the power to transform education in the life sciences for all students.  Their objectives are to recruit and develop talented students who will become the future leaders of science education and to promote scientific literacy among all students.

University of Mississippi and University of Mississippi Medical Center solicitation for pre-applications from brain researchers

The purpose of this solicitation is to invite pre-applications from senior faculty brain researchers at UM and UMMC to be considered for institutional nomination for the 2014 Scientific Innovations Award (SIA) in Neuroscience Award competition, sponsored by the Brain Research Foundation.

NSF- Nanotechnology Undergraduate Education in Engineering (NUE)

Program:  NSF aims at introducing nanoscale science, engineering, and technology through a variety of interdisciplinary approaches into undergraduate engineering education. The focus of the FY 2013 competition is on nanoscale engineering education with relevance to devices and systems and/or on the societal, ethical, economic and/or environmental issues relevant to nanotechnology.

2013 Summer Research Experience at Georgia Tech.

Georgia Tech. will be hosting 10 undergraduate researchers this summer focused in Aquatic Chemical Ecology.  Aquatic Chemical Ecology (ACE) at Georgia Tech is a summer undergraduate research program that gives students the opportunity to perform research with our faculty in the Schools of Biology, Earth & Atmospheric Sciences, Chemistry & Biochemistry, Civil & Environmental Engineering, and Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering.

Camille Dreyfus Teacher-Scholar Awards Program

Program:  The Camille Dreyfus Teacher-Scholar Awards Program supports the research and teaching careers of talented young faculty in the chemical sciences. Based on institutional nominations, the program provides discretionary funding to faculty at an early stage in their careers. Criteria for selection include an independent body of scholarship attained within the first five years of their appointment as independent researchers, and a demonstrated commitment to education, signaling the promise of continuing outstanding contributions to both research and teaching.

NSF ADVANCE- Increasing the Participation and Advancement of Women in Academic Science & Engineering Careers.

The goal of the ADVANCE program is to develop systemic approaches to increase the representation and advancement of women in academic STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) careers, thereby contributing to the development of a more diverse science and engineering workforce.
