The SRN competition is to support the development inter-institutional multidisciplinary research teams to address large-scale questions and challenges within a nationally important theme in sustainability science, engineering, and education (SEES).

Key Dates for UM-Lead Proposals (2011-12):
Monday, Oct 10: Notify ORSP of intent to develop a UM pre-proposal as Lead PI
Thursday, Oct 27: Initial pre-proposals due to firstname.lastname@example.org
Friday, Nov 4: ORSP will announce which 3 pre-proposals to move forward
Nov 5 – Nov 27: PIs can make improvements to pre-proposals
Monday, Nov 28: Final pre-proposal due to ORSP (Program Development Specialist)
Thursday, Dec 1: Pre-proposal due to NSF
April 1: Full proposal deadline to NSF (invited pre-proposals only)
Funding: 3 to 4 awards of up $12M per award spread over 5 years.
Cost Sharing: Prohibited.
- UM may submit up to 3 pre-proposals as the lead institution
- There are no limits to participation as a partner institution.
- Investigators may participate in multiple, but may only be Lead PI in one.
