The Office of Research and Sponsored Programs, through its Division of Research Integrity and Compliance, is responsible for providing certification of institutional compliance with federal regulations and policies, and for ensuring and promoting the responsible conduct of research.
The Office of Research and Sponsored Programs:
- Coordinates the application process to assure regulatory committee approval for the utilization of animals, human subjects and hazardous materials.
- Signs standard assurances and certifications of the University's compliance with federal regulations.
In addition, the ORSP:
- Coordinates activities of the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee to ensure institutional compliance with regulations regarding the care and use of laboratory animals.
- Coordinates activities of the Institutional Review Board to ensure institutional compliance with regulations regarding the use of human subjects in research activities.
- Coordinates implementation of the Objectivity in Research Policy regarding the disclosure, management, reduction or elimination of conflicts of interest that may or do affect sponsored projects.
- Develops/coordinates the development of institutional compliance policies and procedures regarding compliance issues, such as Research Misconduct and Conflict of Interest.
